First Pharmacy Celebrates World Pharmacists Day with Five Days of Knowledge, Teamwork and Growth

Our 2026 Quiz Whiz Championship brought colleagues together for five days of learning, friendly competition and celebration, culminating on World Pharmacists Day.

At First Pharmacy, World Pharmacists Day is an opportunity to celebrate the people whose knowledge, care and professional judgement shape the experience we give our customers every day. This year, we marked the occasion through the First Pharmacy Quiz Whiz Championship 2026, a 5 day internal competition built around learning, teamwork and friendly competition. The championship ran throughout the week and came to a close on 25 September, World Pharmacists Day, with recognition for the teams, certificates for participants, cash rewards for the top performers and the Quiz Whiz trophy for the overall champions.

The championship was designed to do more than test technical knowledge. Across the 5 days, teams worked through questions and challenges that called for quick thinking, sound judgement, communication and collaboration. Participants had to listen to one another, discuss possible answers, make decisions under pressure and trust the strengths of their teammates. These are the same skills that matter in our everyday work. Strong pharmacy practice depends on technical expertise, but it also depends on how confidently we communicate, how well we solve problems and how effectively we work with others. By creating a different environment for learning, Quiz Whiz gave colleagues an opportunity to put those skills into practice while also learning from one another.

One of the most important elements of the championship was its team structure. The teams brought together pharmacy professionals and colleagues from other areas of the business, creating an opportunity for people with different roles and experiences to work towards a common goal. First Pharmacy That reflects how we work every day. The customer experience at First Pharmacy is never the work of one person. It depends on people across the business communicating clearly, supporting one another and understanding how their individual roles contribute to the bigger picture. Throughout the championship, we saw those behaviours come to life through collaboration, confidence, healthy competition and shared responsibility.

At the close of the championship, participants received certificates recognising their contribution to the week. The top performing teams were also recognised with cash rewards, while the overall champions lifted the First Pharmacy Quiz Whiz trophy. The awards celebrated achievement, but the value of the week went beyond the final results. We saw colleagues support their teams, encourage one another and take pride in representing First Pharmacy. We also saw that learning can be challenging, competitive and enjoyable at the same time.

World Pharmacists Day gives us a chance to recognise the contribution pharmacists make to the people and communities they serve. For us, that recognition begins with our own teams. It means creating opportunities for people to keep learning, share knowledge, build confidence and strengthen the skills that help us serve our customers better. The Quiz Whiz Championship gave us another way to bring that commitment to life. As we celebrate our pharmacists, we also celebrate the teamwork around them and the collective effort that makes every First Pharmacy experience possible.
